Rules of Procedure

Rules of Procedure of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights of 2010. Adopted by the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights during its 47th ordinary session held in Banjul, The Gambia from 12 to 26 May, 2010. The detailed activities and procedures of the Commission are regulated by its Rules of Procedure. The Commission adopted its first Rules of Procedure in 1988, during its 2nd Ordinary Session held in Dakar (Senegal) from February 2 to 13, 1988. The Rules were amended revised during its 18th ordinary session held in Praia (Cape-Vert) from 2 to 11 October 1995.

With the advent of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Commission developed new Rules of Procedure. These Rules were approved by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights during its 47th ordinary session held in Banjul (The Gambia) from 12 to 26 May and entered into force on 18 August 2010.
